The primary instruments used to detect radio waves are radio telescopes. These telescopes have large parabolic antennas that collect and focus radio waves onto receivers. Some well-known radio telescopes include the Arecibo Observatory and the Very Large Array (VLA). Recently, the Square Kilometre Array (SKA) has been developed to provide unprecedented sensitivity and resolution.
