One of the most groundbreaking achievements of the EHT is the first-ever image of a black hole, unveiled in April 2019. This black hole resides in the center of the galaxy M87. The image revealed a bright ring-like structure with a dark central region, consistent with the shadow predicted by Einstein’s theory of general relativity.
