Some galaxies host extremely energetic regions at their centers known as active galactic nuclei (AGN). These are powered by supermassive black holes accreting matter, releasing vast amounts of energy across the electromagnetic spectrum. AGN can outshine the entire galaxy and are classified into various types, including quasars, blazars, and Seyfert galaxies, based on their observational characteristics.
